This excerpt is taken from The Tale of Canon's Yeoman and is, oddly enough, poetically descriptive of even contemporary academic life. I'd have never seen it before, except having been a part of it for ten years now. A fuller picture can be drawn from the whole of Yeoman, so if you're interested (as I am), go take a look.
